The Workshop

A Living Heritage

In 2026, Raphaël Martin and Jean Hiriart, who both hold a Brevet des Métiers d'Art (BMA) in cabinetmaking from the École de la Bonne Graine, became the new owners of the workshop.

Based at 8 rue Paturle in Paris' 14th arrondissement, they carry on a craft which has been passed down through generations of cabinetmakers.

This handover is the latest chapter in a long history. Founded in 1986 by Claude Guidet, the workshop was taken over in 2010 by Gilles Cuny, who built up the business alongside his workshop foreman, Vincent Pomas. Raphaël began his apprenticeship here in 2023, before becoming one of its new owners. As for Jean, he trained through a work-study programme at Boiseries Féau.

The Workshop's History

Did You Know?

As early as 1914, 8 rue Paturle was home to "G. Deschamps, Couveuses Artificielles," whose original shop sign can still be seen in the workshop today. Long before cabinetmaking, this place has had a story of its own.
